History of Pentegra
Pentegra Systems LLC (Pentegra) was formed in October 2000 by Ed Karl and Greg Augspurger with a goal of becoming the premier systems integrator focusing on converging technologies in the Chicagoland market. Mr. Karl and Mr. Augspurger brought unique experiences and talents to Pentegra Systems and they began targeting successful, niche communication contractors for acquisition with a goal of maintaining and expanding these companies' core competencies.
Mr. Karl brought over 20 years broad based management experience, ranging from ownership of a start-up business to President and CEO of a large diversified holding company. Mr. Karl, a CPA, also has a successful record of accomplishment in acquisition and sale of companies, corporate restructurings, merging of companies, downsizing, tender offers and financing/refinancing.
Mr. Augspurger, a licensed professional engineer in the State of Illinois brought over 20 years of experience in the systems integration business. Mr. Augspurger's diverse experience included over 14 years at Rich Inc. (a premier systems integrator in Chicago), Executive V.P. and COO for Shure Inc. (Worldwide leader in manufacturing of microphones) as well as establishing his own company CSE. As President of CSE, Mr. Augspurger established an electronic system components company that developed a LAN-based media management system that was eventually sold to Dukane Corporation.
Pentegra Systems acquired and combined three companies Wizdum Audio, Integrated Media Systems and Farnsworth Computer Services. These three companies combined became the foundation of Pentegra Systems LLC.
Wizdum Audio was founded in August 1982 specializing in designing, installing and servicing professional audio and video systems for a multitude of acoustical environments and venues. Wizdum provided high quality sound and video systems to thousands of schools, businesses, municipal facilities and houses of worship throughout the Chicagoland area.
Integrated Media Systems was a full-service audio/video systems integrator established in December 1995, specializing in the design, installation and support of audio, video, security camera (CCTV) monitoring, card access, media retrieval and networked multimedia systems.
Farnsworth Computer Services (Farnsworth) was in business for 25 years and started out as the original Apple Computer store in the Chicagoland area. Farnsworth specialized in consulting, designing, installing and supporting complete turnkey networking solutions including data cabling, network hardware and networked telephony (VoIP)
The combination of the knowledge and expertise of Wizdum, Integrated Media Systems and Farnsworth Computer Services along with the experience of Pentegra Systems management and select strategic additional hiring resulted in Pentegra Systems being awarded the first annual "Excellence in Business Award" in the category of Growth Strategy by the National Systems Contractor Association. Pentegra Systems is now a single organization with the skills and resources to provide the best solutions and service to all of its clients in the Chicagoland area.
