A/V Field Service Technician

Overview:

Responsible for carrying out on-site maintenance and repairs of electronic communication systems, including but not limited to Pro Sound, Paging, Intercom, Audio/Visual, Video Conferencing, and A/V Control Systems. The Field Service Technician is responsible for servicing these systems in the most efficient and effective manner to assure minimum down time and maximum performance.  All service work must meet the quality standards set forth by the Company, and communicating the status of the repair with the client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of equipment and systems as directed and defined in the work orders, diagnosing and fixing faults on site
  • Perform scheduled and un-scheduled maintenance of equipment and systems
  • Utilize the proper test equipment to diagnose a fault
  • Test all equipment after repair is made to ensure proper performance of system. Ensure all test equipment are calibrated in good working order
  • Any equipment that cannot be repaired on site is to be brought back to the office for factory or third-party repair
  • Repairs are to be properly tagged and logged into the Repairs database
  • Work in compliance with the Company’s safety manual with safety of self and others in mind at all times
  • Turn in all paperwork on time and filled out completely (example: signed work orders, time cards, etc.)
  • Make daily communications with the Service Coordinator on service call arrival delays, service call completions and general status of service calls
  • Ensure that time is report accurately, filled out completely with job numbers, hours are correct, and is submitted Monday by 8:00 am
  • Maintain a professional image and build good customer relationships
  • Promote service contracts and new products versus repair when appropriate
  • All work is performed to Company standards and quality installation techniques are practiced
  • Actively participate in personal and professional development and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies that the company offers
  • Other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • The A/V Field Service Technician shall possess a two-year electronics degree or equivalent combination of education and related field experience
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Must have an understanding of electronic systems, especially professional sound and A/V presentation systems
  • Maintain a fundamental knowledge of intercom, MATV, and clock systems
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
  • Have strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be able to read and comprehend engineering drawings and specification sheets
  • Must be proficient in using audio and video test equipment and configuration software
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency
  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in electronics, audio, and/or sound. At least two years of related experience in the A/V world
  • Knowledge of professional audio and video products

  • Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations
  • Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business and specific technical documentation
  • Valid and current driver’s license
